Your Southern Cross Member Benefits
What are the Terms and Conditions of the offer?
Terms and conditions apply to all member benefits. You can see the conditions laid out by Southern Cross Health Insurance here.
MedPro Healthcare also applies the following terms and conditions:
- Only members aged 16 and older who have an active Southern Cross policy can access these benefits.
- Bookings are subject to pre-approval by Southern Cross Health Insurance. Please ensure you provide the correct policy number at the time of booking.
- All policyholders require a separate 20-minute appointment booking.
- Failure to cancel or reschedule your appointment at least two business days before your booking will result in the benefit being claimed against your policy. As a result, you will need to wait until your policy renews to make a new booking.
- Clinic locations are subject to change depending on interest in the area.
What is included in the annual health check?
We can tailor some aspects of the appointment to your individual needs based on age and other factors such as medical history.
The 20-minute appointment will cover common measures of health such as cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, diabetes risk factors, and heart health.
These tests may be subject to change.
Who is eligible for membership benefits?
Adult* Southern Cross Health Insurance members with an active policy are eligible for one free annual health check during their policy year. Your booking will be subject to pre-approval by Southern Cross Health Insurance.
* Policyholders must be aged 16 years and older to redeem this offer.
I am not a Southern Cross Health Insurance Member, how do I access this benefit?
Unfortunately, this offer is only available for current Southern Cross Policyholders. If you are interested in registering for a policy you can do so at https://www.southerncross.co.nz/society or by calling the Southern Cross team at 0800 100 777.
Do I have to book an appointment?
Yes, all policyholders must book a separate 20-minute appointment. All health check bookings are subject to pre-approval by Southern Cross before the appointment so we are unable to accept walk-in appointments.
There are no appointments at my preferred clinic.
We are working to confirm appointment dates as soon as possible.
Bookings are subject to availability, please check your booking link periodically as new dates are added every month. It is possible to opt-in to receive updates on new appointment dates when you submit an expression of interest through the online form.
There is no clinic available in my area?
We may be unable to offer these services in your area at this time. If you are unable to attend another clinic in your region please email our administration team at scbenefits@medpro.co.nz with your full name, contact number, and preferred location. New clinic locations may be added if there is enough interest in the area.
Who will receive my information?
MedPro Healthcare takes the privacy of your health information very seriously and complies with all requirements of the Privacy Commission.
The results of your health check will not be shared with any third parties, including Southern Cross Health Insurance.
However, please be aware that the main policyholder on your account will be notified once you have received your health check. If you are not comfortable with the policyholder knowing that you have had an annual health check, please do not continue with this booking.
To help validate and book your appointment MedPro Healthcare will access some limited information about you in Southern Cross’ systems, like your name, date of birth, policy type, and renewal date. Southern Cross will use the record this creates to process and analyse consultation uptake, but they will not receive any health information from your check with us.
Can I get my annual health check done at my GP?
The annual health check benefit only covers bookings made with MedPro using the benefits booking page. You are still able to book a health check with your GP, but it will be at your own expense. Please check your Southern Cross policy benefits and contact the Southern Cross team regarding claims for services from other providers.
I have already paid to have my annual health check elsewhere; can I get a refund?
The annual health check benefit only covers bookings made with MedPro using the benefits booking page. Please check your Southern Cross policy benefits and contact the Southern Cross team for all other claims.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations within two working days of your booked appointment will result in the benefit being claimed against your account. If you would like to book a health check with us it will be at your own expense and the payment must be confirmed by our accounts team before the appointment.
